Guten Tag Sweet Friends!

YES! It does get warm here!!! Yesterday and today we hit nearly 80 degree!! Never thought I’d see it; thought it was just a rumor started by those who love a cruel joke.  But, hooray, it’s beginning to look a lot like summer! Last night there were random fireworks on the river and tonight the party barge is rolling down the river packed with folks who just can’t bear to be inside. The outdoor cafes are filled everywhere and Kolners are out partying the night away. So what am I doing? Well, I’m inside listening to the party boat and writing to YOU! Cause that’s the way I roll 🙂

farmer's marketYestderday I went to the farmer’s market and bought veggies for the weekend and talked to my local farmers.  I had coffee at my favorite coffee shop, Hey! I strolled along the river for miles with my tunes My fav coffee shop - Hey!playing in my ears. I met my friend Sulamith for coffee at the restaurant next door (we sat outside of course). Last night, Doc and I went to dinner at Capricorn i Aries and sat outside for dinner. Have I mentioned that it stays light until 9:30 PM? Yes, even at 10 PM it is still not completely dark outside. So we strolled through the streets until around 9:00 PM and then headed home. Around 10:30, the fireworks started across the river. We still don’t know why, but we enjoyed them nonetheless.

This morning, I went to my yoga class at Ginger Up studio, juiced and had my usual Weezie salad for lunch. After lunch, I went to a large 3-story bookstore to purchase a driving map for our trip this week. We are renting a car and Bookstore kiddie sectiondriving down the Mosel river, home to castles galore, medieval and roman ruins, half timber villages and vineyards.  The book store was huge and even though all but a small section of the store was completely in German, it was comforting to be on familiar ground. I love bookstores and can roam around in them for for dummieshours. There was even a coffee shop (not Starbucks) on the third floor, a concert area, the “for dummies” book section, a kids play area, basically everything you’d find in a large chain bookstore in the States. It was packed!

I decided I want to paint one of the kitchen walls red, just one wall to warm up the look. So I went to the paint store and purchased the paint and tools I would need. As I headed back to the apartment, I thought, wow, this is becoming easier. I actually know my way around, I got the metro system figured out and I kinda know people. I guess it’s starting to feel a little like home; or maybe it was just the warm weather and sunshine!! 🙂

So, I spent my Saturday night not on the party boat, not dining on a patio or walking the cobblestone streets, but painting a wall, eating popcorn and watching the movie Fight Club. But the wall looks great and I’m totally fine missing the party. There are plenty more party boats and hopefully plenty more sunny days/nights during which to party.

I hope your Saturday night was a party to remember!!
