Buongiorno Sweet Friends!

This trip is truly a learning experience for me. I’m learning to let go and let things happen. I always pre-book everything, plan every detail of the itinerary and have everything printed out so I can reference it. This trip has been a little different. Yes, I booked my flights and hotel in advance, but everything else I just decided to wing it. So, Sunday, I was supposed to travel from Milano to Pistoia to check in to my hotel; but Margaret and I decided to go to Lake Como instead, which is an all day excursion. She said I could stay with her in her “dorm” (more of an apartment) and then go to Pistoia on Monday. Sure! Why not!?

I’m so happy I did! We moved from The Yard Hotel (fabulous) to her school residence or apartment, and then we walked to the the train station, bought our tickets and hopped right on the train. It was a little over an hour ride to Como Lago an once there, we scoped out the ferry schedules that take you to all the little towns along the lake. It’s so gorgeous there. Everything is so pristine and charming and the surrounding mountains that overlook the entire lake are gorgeous.

The Duomo is small but beautiful and we enjoyed the sunshine and people watching while eating lunch. The skies were a little cloudy but the sun would break through and light up the lake and it was breathtaking.

Bellagio was lovely. It’s a very small town with very narrow IMG_20140713_154344streets that steeply lead up the mountain to more shops and cafes. We wandered the streets and meandered through the little alley ways shopping and taking pictures. We watched the street performers, some of who were quite entertaining, and decided to have a final coffee/cocktail before leaving. We sat outside overlooking the lake and I thought again how very lucky I am. I am living the dream right now, and don’t think I don’t know it. Whatever worries come my way, I just remind myself that I am living a charmed life and to enjoy every moment. I am doing my best to not give in to worry. I want to live in the moment as much as possible. I don’t know if I can give up booking my flights and hotels ahead of time, BUT I’m trying to leave myself open for new adventures!

We returned to Milano around 8:30 PM. We were tired and hungry so we stopped at a restaurant near Maragret’s new place. They brought me  a huge bowl of steamed veggies and it was perfect. Just what I needed after a long day. So happy I decided to let go and just let it happen today. It was a great day!!
