Guten Tag Sweet Friends!

I’ve been back in Koln for three beautiful days and I have to admit that I’m loving the weather! It’s been a while since I’ve experienced fall; not that I would trade Hawaii’s year-round perfect weather for four seasons. No way! I’ve had enough four seasons to last me a life time. That said, I am enjoying the fall colors, the changing of the leaves, the cool crisp breeze and the warm sunshine. The past three days have been close to perfect, at least for Germany. The paths are lined with kickable piles of leaves in fall colors, the sky is a brilliant blue and the cafes are packed with people enjoying the weather. Even the evenings are mild with a slow wind and clear skies! Of course, this could turn on a dime and before you know it, it will be gray, cold and raining. 🙁  But, I’ll enjoy this while I can!

Last night, I went to see Phillip Seymour Hoffman’s last film, A Most Wanted Man. It was based and filmed in Hamburg, Germany where supposedly the attacks of 9/11 were hatched and executed. It’s based on the John LeCarre novel of the same name. I wanted to like it, but I did not. It was so slow and lacked any suspense or mystery. The whole thing was sad and unfullfilling. After the movie, I looked at the reviews and many people felt the same way. Interestingly, the German reviewers were not that impressed either. They remarked that no one uses the term Fraulein anymore and that much of the language and other customs were flawed. The reviewers were not impressed and felt like their country, in particular, Hamburg, was being blamed for 9/11. There were a lot of interesting comments. Hopefully, today’s movie, Gone Girl, will be better. I did not read the book so I’m going in blindly – no spoilers!

I really want to go to yoga today, but it’s just too nice outside and I know that bad weather is just around the corner; so carpe diem y’all! I’m heading to an outdoor cafe to sip on a coffee and watch people go by.
