Guten Tag Sweet Friends,

Yesterday, I joined 10 other women who are part of the FedEx pilot program on a girls day out to Phantasialand. Now, when I was asked to go, I thought it was a strip club. Seriously. I was trying to figure out what to do with a Euro coin in lieu of a dollar bill. 🙂

Turns out, it’s a Disney-ish theme park; kinda of a cross between Disneyland and Epcot, with seven different “lands” in the park ranging from China to Mexico to Berlin. It was quite well done actually! The rides were wonderful, all first class, except for one. We went on the boat ride thru old Hollywood movies. Think the original It’s A Small World with King Kong and Jaws. It was a slow, torturous ride with some really, really BAD mannequins that were from the 70’s I think. It was so bad it was comical. Short of that one ride, everything was over the top and we had a great time!

Some of the ladies were on a mission to get sick so they rode the Talocan which I dubbed the Temple of Doom. I watched as they were spun around like a washing machine drum and with each rotation they became greener and greener and their smiles soon vanished. It wasn’t until way after lunch that they spoke. I can’t imagine doing something so crazy. Well, ok I can, but I was drinking then! 🙂

I rode to the park with my new friend Sue. She and I closed the park down, drove back to Cologne and went to dinner at Ecco, a vegan restaurant I’ve been wanting to try. It’s very near where we live and they got very good reviews. It was indeed very good! They even have vegan desserts!! Oh no! Disaster strikes!! But not last night; I passed on the dessert, for now anyway. I had the carrot-ginger soup and a tofu salad. Both were delish and very filling.

All in all it was a very fun day and I enjoyed Phantasialand, even if it was not the Phantasy I was hoping for.
